Add Arrows to Line Segments In Adobe Illustrator: Where’d They Go?

I love Adobe Illustrator. It is one of my go-to tools that I use every day. I use it for all types of design tasks such as designing logos, letterheads, business cards, and much more. I use it all the time and I have for years. However, every now and then Adobe decides to move things around. For the longest time I thought they had gotten rid of the ability to add arrowheads to your line segments. I looked and looked and looked for this feature and could not find it anywhere. It turns out that I actually found it in a completely different section then what you would expect. In today’s video tutorial I will show you how to add arrows to your line segments in Adobe Illustrator.

It is annoying when software companies decide to move things around and put them in unexpected places. Now that I know over this feature is, I understand why it’s there. However, when something has been in a certain place for years it just doesn’t make sense to move it in a completely different section. It turns out that Adobe decided to move the arrows section under the brush options in Illustrator. I do like the fact that they added extra features such as having arrows follow the contour of a line segment. However I feel that the arrows have been placed in an obscure location. When you create a line segment, there is a section at the top of your menu where you can find different options. You can find settings such as the stroke width and the contour of the line segment. You can also find settings such as brushstrokes. This is the location where you will find all of the different arrows. Simply click the brushes fly out menu and under this section will be options for different brushes. There are three different areas of arrow styles. If you choose the normal arrows then you will find regular shaped arrows. You can find all kinds of different types arrow shapes that are really useful and common. Increasing the stroke size on your line segment will increase the size of the arrow itself.
