Why You Should Sign Up With Elegant Themes

Why I am Writing This Review I don’t normally purchase themes or theme services, mainly because I can build them on my own. I build custom themes and customize themes base on frameworks all the time. Recently though, I had the pleasure of winning a free 1 year subscription to Elegant themes. I was skeptical at first whether looking at their themes would be worth my time or not. After actually working with their themes and working with them, I am convinced that Elegant Themes is a valuable service. My Personal Experience I have been really busy lately. Creative Beacon has really grown a lot recently. I decided to use my Elegant Themes subscription to give my site a fresh look. I chose the Divi theme, downloaded it and began to customize the theme to my liking. I added a few personal touches, and everything went smoothly. Everything was documented thoroughly, so that you could make your site look exactly how you want. They include a pdf for each theme that tells you how each part works, either via drag and drop modules or short codes. The first thing I was impressed with was how fast my site loaded. Everything is optimized to be extremely fast and load quickly & efficiently. All of the features were present and everything went off without a hitch. I was also impress at how easy it is to build pages. Everything is modular, and each module can have custom CSS applied to it via classes. It’s as flexible as you need it to be, without hindering development. Divi – The Ultimate WordPress Theme...

7 of the Best Free Online Storage Solutions

Why Are Online Storage Solutions So Important? It is ever apparent that we live in the mobile age. We are constantly on the go, meeting clients, running errands, etc. Combine this with free wi fi and mobile internet and now we can access our files from anywhere. We can use flash drives now that store huge amounts of data. I’ve seen some flash drives that hold 250GB, which is as much as some desktop hard drives. The problem is that some have a fear of losing their flash drive, having it crash, or forgetting to bring it with them. The solution comes in a variety of different online storage solutions that enable you to access gigabytes of storage from anywhere that you have online access. Great Free Online Storage Solutions DropBox Dropbox is a great free service that gives you 2 free gigabytes of online storage to start out with. The coolest part (and a good idea on Dropbox’s part) is that when you share Dropbox with other people and they sign up, you both get a little extra free storage. The more you share Dropbox and help them to grow, you’ll get more storage space in return. Another cool aspect of Dropbox is that you can place files in your public folder, and if you right-click on it, Dropbox will give you a public link that others can click to download. This means that you can share files with anyone, anywhere, any time. You can also link a folder between 2 Dropbox users and share files privately with each other. What is awesome is that you can do...
Perfect Effects 8 Free Photoshop Extension

Perfect Effects 8 Free Photoshop Extension

Perfect Effects 8 oh do I have a blockbuster free extension for you. I’m always looking for cool effects and filters to make great images even better. this week, I came across an awesome free Photoshop extension for image effects called Perfect Effects 8. Perfect Effects 8 is made by OnOne software, who make commercial grade effects and filters for Photoshop. Perfect Effects 8 is made as an extension for Photoshop, or it can work with Elements, Lightroom, and as a standalone program, too. In this post, I’ll show you Perfect Effects 8 for Photoshop and all of it’s amazing features. I decided to try out the free version for a while and see how I liked it. Honestly, once you get into it, Photo Effects 8 is pretty intuitive. I was able to start using the filters and effects in minutes. if you prefer to find out more and learn everything you can about the software, you can watch their videos to get up to speed. What I like is that you aren’t stuck using just the filters. Each filter and preset has a multitude of adjustments. Also, as you can see from the screenshot above, you can stack filters on top of each other for amazing combinations. They work just like Photoshop layers. You can stack them, lower their opacity, and layer them to create amazing effects. You can add real textures that look great. They can be as subtle or intense as you want. Go for the vintage look, or make your image look grungy. Paint in effects with a brush, or just apply them overall....
The Best New Features of Photoshop CC 2014

The Best New Features of Photoshop CC 2014

New Features of Photoshop CC 2014 It seems like every time Adobe updates Photoshop lately, it has become easier to work with, more intuitive, and more helpful overall. Adobe just released a new updated version of most of its software titles. Photoshop received a few new updated features. In this post, I’ll be covering the best new features of Photoshop CC 2014. Path Blur Path Blur is a great new feature in Photoshop, and is probably one of my favorites. Using the pen tool, you can create a path that specifies where a blur will be applied. This is extremely handy when you want to apply a blur to a specific area and have it follow a certain contour. To bring up this option, go to Filter> Blur Gallery> Path Blur. You use the push pin to draw the path of the blur that you want to apply. You can click and drag each point to change the curvature of the path. You can also make adjustments to how the blur is applied, it’s strength, and how much it tapers off. I am glad to see a decent amount of control with this feature. You could apply this blur to things like water and flowing rivers, controlling where they flow. Spin Blur Spin blur does just what the name suggests. You can apply a blur filter to give an object the effect of spinning. You can apply this to any rotating object. For example, you can apply it to car wheels, or anything else that may pivot or swing in a circular motion. Go to Filter> Blur Gallery> Spin...
Adobe Ink & Slide: Complication at its Finest

Adobe Ink & Slide: Complication at its Finest

Ink & Slide If you have an iPad iPad mini, chances are you’ve had fantasies about being able to draw and create beautiful artwork using your device. While there are plenty of drawing apps out there, Adobe has decided to introduce their own product called Ink & Slide. Usually I’m excited when Adobe comes out new products because that means that they are coming out with something interesting and innovative. However, after you read what I have to say, you’ll realize that they definitely fell short this time. Let’s take a look at the most ridiculous drawing toy I’ve ever seen. The Price First of all, I’m going to create some kind of digital artwork I’m not going to limit myself to what I can draw and sketch on iPad. Second of all this I’m going to drop $200 on something that enables me to create digital drawings, you can bet your bottom dollar that it’s going to be a Wacom tablet. When you do a side by side comparison, you get more bang for your buck if you get a drawing tablet, instead of trying to rig your iPad into being one. $200 is kind of steep, even if this application had more features. The Complications I have never seen a more complicated tool to use in my entire life. Why the hell would I pay $200 for something that is so obscure to use? I watched the second video showing how to use the Ink & Slide, and the whole process is counter-intuitive. You pretty much have to watch the video in order to build a set...
WhatFontIs – Your #1 Font Aggregator

WhatFontIs – Your #1 Font Aggregator

WhatFontIs Powerful visual statements never fail to draw attention. Bloggers and graphic designers know that, in advertising, what you say isn’t nearly as important as how you choose to express it. In essence, design works together with written content in order to produce the desired effect in the audience, and to that end, they’re both equally consequential. In this context, finding and using a good font for text is paramount. Do you know that feeling when you surf the web and chance upon a phrase or a word that is written so majestically, that it gets you wondering what the typeface is, and whether you could find it and then use it in your projects? It wouldn’t be the first time it happened to me. So, what I used to do was embark on a hopeless, never-ending search for the perfect match, and spend way too much time on this wild goose chase, with hardly ever a happy ending. That’s all over now. I found a brilliant service that helps you track down the typeface of any random word found on the wide expanse of the web. Here’s how it works. You can either launch a manual search through their humongous database using keywords, or insert the URL address of where you spotted the word. The final alternative, and my favorite, is to take a screenshot with that word, and the upload it from your drive. First off, when you offer your screenshot to WhatFontIs for analysis, one piece of information is required: the platform needs to know whether the characters themselves are laid on a background that is...
