What You Need to Know About the New iCloud Update

iCloud Update – What You need to Know Apple just recently updated its iCloud offerings for its users. While many people were excited about this, because they now have access to new features, there’s information that you should know before upgrading to the new iCloud. If you’re thinking about upgrading to the new iCloud update, these are the things you should consider. Limited access If you decide to upgrade to the new iCloud, you are expected to have the latest operating system. The new iCloud does not support Mavericks, which means you won’t have access to your icloud storage on devices that aren’t running the new iOS or Yosemite. This can be a real pain, because it means you have to go through an update all of your devices in order to have access to the new iCloud. This means you may not have access to photos or files on devices like your iPad or phone unless you take the time to upgrade. I’m not sure why they didn’t make the new iCloud update backwards compatible with older devices. This only makes me worry, because I’ve heard a lot of people complain about Yosemite. A lot of people say that it’s filled with bugs and that it has compatibility issues. Being a designer, I don’t want to have any trouble getting access to vital software that I use every day, like Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop. I’m always leery about upgrading to the newer operating systems, because I live by the motto, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” New software In order to take advantage of Pages, Keynote,...
5 Reasons You Should Host Your Videos Externally

5 Reasons You Should Host Your Videos Externally

Congratulations! You’ve finally finished your video and it’s just like you: Awesome! All you have left is to upload the video to your website, but it’s not the only option—or the best option. With over 1 billion users, YouTube has grown to become the second largest search engine behind Google. This video platform offers user a wealth of options over self-hosting and is the prime way to show off your video. Learn a few reasons why uploading your video to YouTube is much more beneficial than self-hosting. 1. Gargantuan Viewership The success of your video greatly hinges on its visibility. If your site already has a significant number of visitors, self-hosting may prove to offer several benefits. For example, LifeLock.com hosts its testimonial videos because the brand is national and has a huge audience of regular visitors on the site. However, if you are looking to increase viewership and expand your brand image, YouTube offers your video exponentially more exposure. When you upload a video to YouTube, other users can also embed the video on their own blog or website. As a result, it makes your video infinitely more accessible to others. Best of all, if you are interested in making your video viewable to only a few choice individuals, YouTube allows you to do that as well. 2. Easy to Use Choosing to upload the video and host it on your site will more than likely require a certain level of HTML5 coding experience. In addition, you will need to choose a video player, which is a small piece of software that is designed to automatically detect the...
Why I’m Not So Sure About The New Macbook

Why I’m Not So Sure About The New Macbook

The New Macbook May Be a Step Backwards For Apple I’ve had the privilege of using Macs since I was 16 years old. My first computer was the Bondi blue iMac from the 90s. I’ve also used PCs, so my opinion comes from an unbiased standpoint. I’ve always been behind Apple, because I’ve always felt like their products were the best quality, while being easy to use and packed full of features. I’ve been reading online about the latest update to the MacBook, and I’m just not sure I’m excited about the direction that they’re taking. Let’s take a look at the new MacBook by Apple and why I have my doubts. No Magsafe Connection I don’t know why they did away with the MagSafe adapter connection. This feature alone has saved me from countless drops and damage they could of happened to my computer. I have two children, two dogs, and a cat. They all seem to be running around constantly and the ability to have a breakaway cord is essential. The Unified Port Apple has decided to go with a unified Port, so that they can create the thinnest laptop possible. The problem with this is that it can be a real pain to connect your devices. Of course you have to shell out $80 for an adapter so that you can charge your laptop and plug-in peripheral devices at the same time. The reason why not crazy about this is the fact that Apple has always been about to being easy to use. When I shell out $1000 or more for a computer, I expect to...

7 of the Best Free Online Storage Solutions

Why Are Online Storage Solutions So Important? It is ever apparent that we live in the mobile age. We are constantly on the go, meeting clients, running errands, etc. Combine this with free wi fi and mobile internet and now we can access our files from anywhere. We can use flash drives now that store huge amounts of data. I’ve seen some flash drives that hold 250GB, which is as much as some desktop hard drives. The problem is that some have a fear of losing their flash drive, having it crash, or forgetting to bring it with them. The solution comes in a variety of different online storage solutions that enable you to access gigabytes of storage from anywhere that you have online access. Great Free Online Storage Solutions DropBox Dropbox is a great free service that gives you 2 free gigabytes of online storage to start out with. The coolest part (and a good idea on Dropbox’s part) is that when you share Dropbox with other people and they sign up, you both get a little extra free storage. The more you share Dropbox and help them to grow, you’ll get more storage space in return. Another cool aspect of Dropbox is that you can place files in your public folder, and if you right-click on it, Dropbox will give you a public link that others can click to download. This means that you can share files with anyone, anywhere, any time. You can also link a folder between 2 Dropbox users and share files privately with each other. What is awesome is that you can do...

How Adobe Creative Cloud Could Make Everyone Happy

How Adobe Creative Cloud Could Make Everyone Happy

Well, it is apparent that Adobe is discontinuing the ability to purchase the Creative Suite via disk. This will be replaced by the sole capability of using the Creative Cloud Subscription service. While a lot of people really like this subscription service, some are outraged by the monthly subscription fee. Some people really just don’t like the idea of renting the software from Adobe. There are a lot of complaints about doing away with the ability to buy the Creative Suite. I thought about it for while, and I figured out how to make everyone happy with the subscription service. Here are the common complaints with the service, and how to solve them. $50 a month? But I only use Photoshop! I see your point. While you could look at it as an affordable way to expand your software capabilities, I can see if you are a Photographer and only use Photoshop or Lightroom. So instead of the $20 per month for one program, Adobe could break it down to where users pay a flat fee of $7.50 per month for each software title. If you only use 2 or 3 programs and will never use any others, you only end up paying $15-$22.50 per month for the software that they use. In other words, you only pay for what you use, and nothing you don’t. They can also keep the $50 per month fees for the people who want access to everything, because it is a really affordable way to get the best software available. I never get to own the software. Okay, I can see where some...
