Thanks, this is a really nice concise article on what a professional photographer has to offer. I think you need to add passion. As a photographer I have a passion for what I do. I believe the photographers you speak of are like that, constantly learning and growing.

Nice article - I relate to number 8 myself - Photography is definitely an art moreso than a science and is hard to learn if it's not already inside

James, thank you for taking the time to acknowledge us photographers, its always nice to be appreciated. I do what I do because I love it. If you're passionate about what you do, success will be attracted to you.

Thank you so much! I have ha a week of "why do you charge so much?", "But this is easy for you", "I don't want anything major, so shoot something easy" and on and on... So it is refreshing to run across someone who appreciates what we do!!

It's rather nice to be appreciated. Thanks. I've been shooting design commissions since 1993 and know the level of synergy in the relationship with graphic designers. I've enjoyed every minute of every shoot (well almost) with a graphic designer art directing.
So it works both ways. We feed off each other, enjoy each other's input, have a mutual ambition in each situation, and thrive together most comfortably. There's no other group of creatives I'd rather work with (and there are some that would be far more financially rewarding). Most importantly though, my sensitivity to the world, to its surfaces, shapes, manners and characteristics have been heightened as a result of my coexistence with graphic designers and their keen eye for delicately nuanced aesthtics.

So I gladly return the compliment!

Maybe I should write a blog entitled: Why I Respect Graphic Designers?
